Digital tech is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the North-east, home to one of Europe’s largest EnergyTech communities and strengths in ClimateTech, AgriTech and FinTech.

The region is building a global reputation in the industrial digital economy, with more than 200 companies already active and 100 new businesses launched since 2019. The ambition is to grow around 10–20 companies to international scale, each reaching £20m+ turnover.

ONE Tech Hub

Based in Aberdeen city centre, ONE Tech Hub is the focal point for the digital tech community. Led by Opportunity North East (ONE) in partnership with CodeBase, it offers:

  • Incubation, growth and business support programmes
  • A collaborative space for founders and entrepreneurs
  • Monthly Unfiltered events connecting innovators, mentors and investors

Full fibre connectivity

The £11.5m Full Fibre Project, completed in 2023, has delivered ultrafast fibre to 190+ sites, boosting digital infrastructure for businesses, residents and providers across the region.
