Food, Drink & Agriculture

Aberdeen’s food, drink, and agriculture sector drives innovation and growth, from world-renowned produce and seafood to sustainable farming, agritourism and cutting-edge food innovation hubs.

Aberdeen’s food, drink & agriculture powerhouse

Food, drink and agriculture are central to the North-east economy, employing over 22,000 people and generating 20% of Scotland’s industry output. Rooted in farming and fishing, the region is home to Aberdeen Angus beef, Europe’s largest seafood landings at Peterhead and Fraserburgh, and world-renowned food and drink brands.

Driving growth, innovation & sustainability

The sector aims to double output and exports by 2030, grow turnover 5% annually, and boost productivity by 25% by 2025. Key projects like the Seafood Transformation Project will accelerate growth, build new capacity, enhance sustainability, and drive innovation. Seafood processing alone adds £100m in value each year and supports 4,000 jobs.
